Bible and Faith Studies
Parish Bible Study
We will be doing a second study of The Gospel According to St Matthew for those who have yet to do it. All of the Gospels are a good starting place for ventures into the Bible. This particular Gospel makes numerous connections with Old Testament Scripture, demonstrating over and over again that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies, revelations and divine events.
It is a 24 week study that will begin on Sunday, September 20, 6 pm, lasting 2 hours each week, plus any homework you choose to do. The weekly gatherings each Sunday, will begin with discussion and end with
a 50 minute video. It goes by fast.
The cost for a workbook will be about $65, which will be accurately determined after the books have been ordered and received. You will need a Bible, preferably the Revised Standard Version, and a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Our library has some of both if you want to borrow one.
If you are interested in this Bible study, please contact the parish office before Tuesday, August 18. There is no need to have taken the last parish Bible study, though it certainly adds to any other study. If you will be a new person to our parish study, there will be an orientation to the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the Bible study on Sunday, September 13, 6 pm.
Parish Faith Study
Foundations of Faith: A Journey Through the Catechism of the Catholic Church is an immersive exploration of the Church’s teachings. Filmed across forty locations in eleven countries, this study brings you to the places where the Faith was explained and clarified by Church councils, the Church doctors, and the saints.
Guided by trusted Catholic presenters including Dr. Edward Sri, Jeff Cavins, Dr. Marcellino D'Ambrosio, and Fr. Mike Schmitz, you will journey through the Catechism in twenty sessions.
Our parish will begin this 20 week study on Wednesday, September 23, 10 am. It will continue each Wednesday, 10 to noon, with discussion and a 50 minute video. The cost for the workbook will be about $65, but the exact amount will be collected once we have received the materials. Please contact the parish office prior to Tuesday, August 18 to register, so that we can order the workbooks.
No prerequisites are required, except access to a Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC). For those new to the CCC, there will be a prior orientation.
